It's ok to cry,
Mommy said to me,
Don't hide the pain and lie,
Let everybody see,

It's ok to cry,
Let the liquid release,
Your body will relax,
Your mind will be at ease,

That made a lot of sense,
But mommy didn't specify,
She didn't tell me that tears...
were the only way to cry

I want them to see my pain,
I want them to hear my screams,
So I took a big sharp knife,
And I cried a few long streams,

Mommy would be mad,
If she found out how I cry,
She would be afraid for me,
Afraid that I would die,

But tears are much too quick,
They're there and then they fade,
But a simple cut will stay,
Look at all the scars I've made,

I don't see the distinction,
Why is it blood we dread,
Simply because tears are clear,
And  because blood is red?

Wait what's going on?
The blood won't stop it's flow,
Oh god is this the end,
Where am I going to go!

Oh lord this isn't good,
I'm starting a huge flood,
But instead of water,
I'm drowning in my blood.
Suicide in the United States is the 11th leading cause of death.
Depression affects over 21 million people in America, EVERY YEAR.
Lots of this depression leads to suicide.
And lots start from a simple cut on their arm.

I'm not making this to share my life story, or for anybody to feel bad for me, I'm writing this because I have many friends who are dealing with/have dealt with/or even may deal with Depression.

Stop the sickness. Don't raise the knife or lighter.
Your body is more precious than all the diamonds in the world, so protect it as much as you can.

Much love to all who have, are, or will deal with depression. Know that you're not alone, and you can find help.
